Lithium-iron-phosphate battery (LiFePO4, LFP) is a type of electric battery that uses LiFePO4 for the cathode and graphite carbon electrode with a metallic substrate as the anode. It is a variant of lithium-ion battery. Due to its lower cost, high safety, low toxicity, long service life, and other factors, LFP batteries are widely used in vehicles, stationary batteries, and for backup power. LFP batteries do not contain cobalt.
According to the IEC classification, lithium-iron-phosphate batteries are marked on the casing as LifePO4, IFR, LFP, 14500, 16340, 18650, 21700, 26650, 32700, 33140.
